I bought these in preparation for the academy. These boots are have a memory foam insole and are padded through the top lining. They are VERY light for having a thick bottom sole. Being 5’2” these go half-way up my shin. As far as shining goes, everything except for the tongue and ankle support are able to be polished. I love the quality of Rocky boots! These are my second pair after working 5 years corrections in my other ones. The only downside is that the zipper does not give complete access to the inside of the boot like I had hoped, but this is obviously for the waterproof feature.
